Took me 3 days to read. Addictive.

Don't bother. Stupid and ludacris, WTF? This is suppose to be a novel about vampires, I'm confused, the vampires in this book are totally toothless. I like my vampires evil. There was no drinking of human blood, no sleeping in coffins, no not going out into the sunlight, no stakes in the heart, nothing that had anything to do with vampire lore. Seriously, where are the soulless demons we love to hate, the terror, the EVIL? Again I say, don't bother.

Having picked this up with no knowledge of either the author or the fact that this was a series, I was a bit concerned once I'd started and discovered that it's not simply part of a series but book two.Subtitled "An Ethical Vampire Novel," vampires are not at the centre of this story which follows Ari, a very mature 14 year old as she deals with friendship, relationships and not fitting in. I enjoyed this book even more than the first. The mystery is bigger, the character development is better, the pace is faster, and the plot is more cohesive. I would not say that the main focus of the book is on vampirism. Obviously the main characters are all vampires, which poses challenges for them in their daily lives, and also gives them unique abilities. But that is not the plot of the book, just its context. Also, it is not a love story. It is more of a mystery with a coming of age story

I just finished this book and it was good. Not "pretty" good but the great good. I felt like the book could've been better, by adding a little bit more of dramatic scenes here and there. I'm not entirely sure how to feel about this book either. I'm at the point where I'm invested in the characters' happiness, but the pacing is SOOOO slow that it's annoying. I also wish there had been more of a resolution at the end of the book - we still have no idea for sure who has been killing all of those people, or what the hell a 'sasa' is.
