Suspicion
“There’s something hidden in the maze.”
Seventeen-year-old Imogen Rockford has never forgotten the last words her father said to her, before the blazing fire that consumed him, her mother, and the gardens of her family’s English country manor.
For seven years, images of her parents’ death have haunted Imogen’s dreams. In an effort to escape the past, she leaves Rockford Manor and moves to New York City with her new guardians. But some attachments prove impossible to shake—including her love for her handsome neighbor Sebastian Stanhope.
Then a life-altering letter arrives that forces Imogen to return to the manor in England, where she quickly learns that dark secrets lurk behind Rockford’s aristocratic exterior. At their center is Imogen herself—and Sebastian, the boy she never stopped loving.
Combining spine-tingling mystery, romance, and unforgettable characters, Suspicion is an action-packed thrill ride.
A new novel from the author of one of my favorites, Timeless, and I managed to score an ARC!! This one just might be even better than Timeless?! Gorgeous writing, great pacing, unique world and mystery, and a reveal and climax that wowed me. This is up there with We Were Liars as my favorite reads of 2014!
I couldn't sleep until I finished this book! What a great mystery, and I loved the setting- a modern-day Downton Abbey is such a cool idea. I wanted to pick up and move to Rockford myself by the end of it! I pride myself on being able to predict twists (I've watched a lot of TV!) but I actually didn't figure out the twist on this one, and like another person said, I went back and reread Suspicion after I found out The Secret, and it was so much fun to get a second read with this new perspective.
I want to thank Delacorte Press for providing me with a copy of this book to read and give an honest review. Receiving this book for free has in no way altered my opinion or review.I had great hopes for this book. First I off, I had complete cover lust. I mean look at it. It's just so pretty. And I knew there was going to have to be symbolism in it. There just had to be. So that pulled me in. And then the premise reeled me in. Paranormal element, check. Takes place in England, check. Hot boy,
1-1.5 starsFriends, I don't usually write a review immediately after finishing the book, but I'm making an exception here because I want this one out of my system as soon as possible. I want to be done with it and move on and not have to think about it any longer. Sounds harsh, I know, but Suspicion is not only one of the most ridiculous books I've read this year, but one of the worst. (If only I could end my review there, right?) This is supposed to be some dark and romantic mash-up of The
*4.5 stars*I really enjoyed reading Suspicion. From the second I started it, I knew it was going to be everything I wanted it toa modern gothic novel complete with the perfect country manor house and a hint of magic. And thats exactly what I got! At least for the first half of the novel. The second half turned toward more of a mystery, which I really could have done without. While I didnt enjoy the second half of the novel as much as the first, its really more of a disagreement on where the book
I quite enjoyed this one! I've heard about Rebecca, but never read the original story, so I went into this book with only a little knowledge to it's inspiration, but I think that's why I enjoyed it so much. I've read Monir's Timeless books and was drawn to the history and details she put in them but at the same time she spins them into something unique and romantic. Suspicion, was like that for me. I fell in love with the history of the Rockford family and the myth of Lady Beatrice and how it
