Would have given it a 2 star. I felt it was a tedious read in most places but it changed toward the end, hence the extra star. Intriguingly some of the characters were freakishly similar to the ones in another of Hailey's books, The Moneychangers.
Arthur Hailey knows how to write adventure novels. This is an older book and should be updated as the industry has changed. Because I have family working in the auto industry I found this book interesting. I have to say in some places it may have been too long and the ending seemed forced, but other than that it is an intriguing behind the scenes tale.
I'm not a car guy. And yet the industry is fascinating. Good Hailey exploration of the industry as it was when the book was written. Still gives you a clue or two. Not the first Hailey I'll pick up, but good enough.

This book is reported to be a very loose interpretation of events surrounding Lee Iacoccas life during the time he was developing the Mustang at Ford.Set in the 1960s in Michigan, it covers every corner of the automobile industry: the greed, back stabbing, power plays, racial tensions and personal as well as corporate struggles. The protagonist is married to the daughter of the President of National Motors. He views the potential of the youth market as a veritable goldmine of the future, and soWould have given it a 2 star. I felt it was a tedious read in most places but it changed toward the end, hence the extra star.
