I think that these books are depressing because for every good thing that happened there at least 3 bad things that take place. But, I will chug along and start the next one.

The continuing saga of the morlands. rosamund married Marcus but has an affair with Jes. She gives birth to a daughter but then sees Jes again and when she comes home she is locked out of her home by her husband and is not allowed to see her child again. This period is also about the invention of the locomotive. In this book you can se the differnt ways people live.

After the last book I was afraid the series had become dull. This one moved along much faster and makes me look forward to the next installment!

The lives of the extended Morland family play out against the backdrop of the 1820s in England. Some members experience tragedies while others find love and romance. Meanwhile George IV is ailing, soon to be followed by his brother, Clarence. Politics are volatile, with new manufacturing cities demanding representation in Parliament. This book had some shocking moments in it, but didn't always hold my interest as much as the previous book. I don't really care for Nicky though, so maybe that had something to do with it!

I loved it except that it was a little predictable. I guess that's bound to happen by the 16th book in a series! I marked the mistakes I found in the Kindle version -- there were 13 of them. I look forward to reading #17 after a little break.
