In a small French town Tabby has become desperate, she has a broken heart and is pondering on some home truths and now shes travelled from Paris to this unknown, quiet town with no money on a whim. She needs to go home, but is reluctant, she needs to earn money but her French is weak at best, but most of all she needs somewhere to sleep.Emmie is virtually a hermit venturing out only to work so was it fate that bought Tabby to her door. Entertaining and engaging but also infuriating, with all the horrible misogyny and the blind, never ending love these women kept for such inane, coward, two-faced men. However, that twist? I did not see coming at all and I love when a book makes me go :O while listening. But then...what kind of ending is that?? Conflicted, I'd say I recommend it but it's not all great. I'm willing to give the author another try with another book though.

Enjoyed it, but felt very long, and as others have commented, the ending was quite abrupt. I dont condone cheating at all, but I found what Emily was put through to be excessive. I felt annoyed at the Sylvie and the bitchy journalist who wrote that horrible article honestly. Sylvie didnt *have* to drive drunk and on sleeping tablets (seriously?)with her boys, who, sorry, at 17 and 18 are hardly children. It begins with a bored young woman, Emily, having a fling with a wealthy married neighbour. It ends in tragedy for everyone. However, is having a fling enough to become the most hated woman in Britain? The story is intersected with the life of Tabby who is living in France trying to rebuild a life that has become desperate. Emily, or Emmie, as she is known to Tabby is a very sad and secretive person indeed, and she has every right to be. However, there is a massive twist at the end that turns



It would have been 4 stars as it was a good read and a twist I didn't expect near the end, but ended inconclusively which left me disappointed.

I really enjoyed this book. I thought it was going to be your average kind of chick lit but it actually had an excellent plot with a great twist that I didn't see coming. But... it has to lose a star for its ending. I turned the page, realised it was finished and went wtf??? Argh, ambiguous endings bug the crap out of me! Wrap it all up nicely authors, please!
