This is the fifth book in the Lady Grace Mysteries series, about Lady Grace Cavendish, a thirteen-year-old Maid of Honour at the court of Queen Elizabeth I. It's January 1570, and a new visitor is arriving at court. Banoo Yasmine is a young noblewoman from the Middle Eastern country of Sharkand. When the king of Sharakand was overthrown, Banoo Yasmine's family was murdered because they had supported him, and only she escape. In England, she hopes to regain her fortune so she can return to

The Lady Grace mysteries are so much of what I read when I was a young teenager. (The fact that I rated this book five out of five stars back in 2014 says a lot.) While reading this, I was reminded of how super these books actually are. This was the first one I read, even though it's fifth in the series - I think I chose it, out of all the others at the library, because the cover intrigued me the most. Lady Grace is a Maid of Honour to Queen Elizabeth I but she is also more she is her Lady Pursuivant or a person who seeks out wrongdoers. When the crown jewel is stolen from Banoo Yasmine of Sharakand who is in exile from her homeland after a coup, Lady Grace must find the thief. Plus Banoo having a pet panther was pretty amazing too! Yasmin definately was the only real point to this story I enjoyed. The whole ruby as a loan thing annoyed me. It felt a bit typical that it
