Hoping to cool off a twenty-five-year-old feud between two neighboring families, Cassie Stuart only succeeds in pouring kerosene on the flames. Both sides have warned her to get out of Texas pronto. . .or they will burn her father's ranch to the ground. What Cassie needs is a peacemaker but she ends up with a widow-maker instead. He is called Angel , a ruggedly handsome hired gun with eyes as black as sin. Unwanted and unwelcomed by his ungrateful employer, he would just as soon leave Cassie to fend for herself. But a stubborn sense of duty , and a desire to taste the sweetness of her kiss steels Angel's resolve to make Cassie want him, come hell or high water. . .and for more than his gun alone.

I just re-read this book this weekend and was reminded again how much I love it, despite being a non-fan of western romance.Angel is a ruthless gunfighter. However, he is indebted by a friend to undertake the business of peacemaker for the sake of Cassie Stuart. Cassie has a tendency of meddling, which landed her in big trouble lately: In her effort to pacificate her warring neighbors, she played matchmaker for their children. Unfortunately, the matchmaking effort didn't end well, leaving theI forgot how much I always enjoy Ms. Lindsey's books, it's been awhile. Oh my, I want my own Angel. Loved his character. Cassie was ok, I did like her spunk. A few tear jerker scenes, I almost had to grab the tissue box.
This book is absolutely ridiculous, but I loved it. I won't spend this review looking at all the things I thought needed reworking. I loved being immersed in this world Johanna Lindsey has created, and laughed more than I should have at things that weren't supposed to be funny, but I loved that too. God, it's bad, but it's also really, really good, and kind of addictive. Like pop music and milkshakes.

One of the bestLike westerns? This is one of the best. Gunslinger shootouts, feuding families. A meddling, think she can solve everyones problems heroine.....Cassie and Angel are terrific together. The story has a subplot about Angels parents. Love this book.
Angel is a cold and hardened gunfighter who, as far as he knows, has no family. As a debt to be paid he is asked to help Cassie deal with a feud between two families and because of her interference she is now involved. The two end up being married by a shot gun wedding eventually leading to a HEA ending. Angel eventually finds his family and last name.
