I thought with having read over 130 books this year and with the release of GTA V that I wouldn't get much reading done during my week off, I felt overwhelmed by the amount of words and books I have read this year. But with my target of 150 books in 2013 so close I decided to continue reading the books of my favourite author, Jackie Collins. I read Hollywood Wives: The New Generation a few days ago within 24 hours and when I started this, Hollywood Husbands I expected it to take a few days. 648A real page turner, with the ability to tell multiple character stories in a way that doesn't confuse the reader. It was clever, sexy and had me thinking about the characters even when I wasn't reading the book.
I have read many of Jackie Collins novels, in fact I am swiftly making my way through all of them. Lately I have had this feeling that I am not enjoying them as much as I previously was. Is this because of me and my tastes are changing? Or could it be some of Collins novels are, dare I say it, just not as good? I dont know how the author managed to write so many characters in one book and making each one of the entertaining to read about, but she did it with such amazing ease. The whole book can be too dramatic for some people, but i found the book pleasant and easy to get through. Very nice👍
I don't know how anyone can say this book is "terribly written" when it is so TIGHT. Speaking of tight, if anyone today wrote a book with the term "baby pussy" tossed around so frequently, I'm sure they'd be lynched.The only thing I can think to complain about is how embarrassing it is to read her attempts at slanging things up, especially the handful of times she "oony'd" words (I can't remember what they were, but something like "a real blockbusteroony" or "she's a real freakaroony". HmmFun because its Jackie Collins but its view of LGBT people is painful to read from a 2020 perspective.And the person who suffers the gravest consequences is the person who has been abused from childhood, I dont feel good about that.
